PaMHC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM |
| One of the goals of the Pennsylvania Morgan Horse Club, Inc. is educating its members and the general public in all aspects of the Morgan horse. As one way of achieving this goal the Club will award two youth scholarships per year, finances permitting. Each scholarship has a value of $500 and will be awarded in August to the successful candidate who is pursuing a course of study during the next academic year on a full-time basis beyond the high school level. The SCHOLARSHIP FOR EQUINE (OR ANIMAL) STUDIES is intended to encourage preparation for a career oriented toward animal care through full-time study in some field of equine or animal science. Examples of appropriate fields are in veterinary medicine, in animal bio-science, in a two-year program preparing to be a veterinary assistant, or in a two- or four-year equine management program as part of an accredited college curriculum. The MORGAN HORSE SCHOLARSHIP is intended to give recognition to active participation in the ownership, training, and/or showing of the Morgan horse prior to engaging in a course of study in a two- or four-year degree program at an accredited college or university. The course of study need not be restricted to equine or animal science. Documented evidence of having worked with the Morgan horse and of intent to continue this association beyond the college years are important considerations. In order to be eligible for either scholarship, a person must be a current member of the PaMHC and have been a member in one prior year. The awards will be based primarily on academic achievement and proven interest. Consideration of financial need will be a factor in cases of equivalent merit. The Board reserves the right to withhold either or both scholarships in the event that the applicants are not deemed to be qualified.A person may receive one or the other scholarship only once. The scholarship may be applied for in any year of one's higher education. Unsuccessful applicants in one year are welcome to apply again in subsequent years. To apply, please send a statement of your career goals, a description of your program of study at the college or university, evidence of your formal acceptance in the program, a list of your planned courses during the forth-coming semester, a copy of your transcript from your last year of study, and two letters of recommendation to:Craig HoustonPO Box 702 Carlisle , PA 17013 Deadline for completed applications is May 31, 2007. |
